I have decided to do my position paper on the legalization of marijuana. There has been a huge debate in California on this topic and I cant stop hearing about it from others. I know there is also plenty of information I can find. I consider that marijuana should be legalized in America. Though, when considering legalizing marijuana, there are many health, social, and economic issues. The legalization of Marijuana would definitely benefit our economy in America and allow the government to apply taxes on it. The government, especially now, needs a new sources of revenue to pay off debts. Also, the war on drugs is costing the government millions of dollars. These costs seem unnecessary when dealing with the drug marijuana because it’s likely that it isn’t anymore harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. Thus, legalization would decrease crime rates.

These are a couple benefits that I have researched so far on the Legalization of marijuana. There are plenty of objections to this topic, but considering how harmful marijuana is and how much it could benefit the economy, I have to stand by legalizing it. I will research other ideas and come up with a more legit argument.
