Sixth blog

After debating between two topics that I would have had a very strong position on, I've decided to do my paper on standardized testing and whether or not it's necessary. I chose this topic mainly because I have to deal with the burden of sitting in my least favorite class (2nd period) for 4 hours just to take a test that no one else puts effort into... I don't really have strong feelings or the desire to petition for this topic, as some would for animal rights and other important problems, but I think this topic is the one that I can take sides with because I strongly oppose standardized testing. I do kind of wish there were a topic I could feel stronger about but this one seems to suit me pretty well. I've taken some time to research what others have to say about standardized testing, and the good and bad effects of it. I'm kind of looking for more convincing reasons to persuade the audience into thinking my position is better, but it's kind of difficult because I've found a lot of reasonable objections. I'll just have to dig a little deeper.

  1. Hi Linly,
You suggest here that the you will argue "whether or not" standard testing is necessary and that you don't really have a strong opinion about the topic. Be sure that you at least provide a clearly sided position in the paper; you will argue the "other side" via objections and concessions, but you are still responsible for using rebuttals to show why the side you've chosen is, ultimately, the most logical, important, correct, etc.
