Frontline: Medicating Children

The webpage for an report on parents, educators, and doctors trying to make sense of ADHD and how to handle it. It gives a very good unbiased view on what ADHD is and the different medications that are used by doctors and their patients to handle it.

The Ethics and Science of Medication Children

A publication in a medical journal of statistics and information on the effects of medication on children as researched by two professionals in the field. This journal contains great statistics on what kinds of children get medicated, and how many children are being medicated now versus in the past.

Medicating Children: ADHD and Pediatric Mental Health

This is a wonderful book about the history of ADHD in America, written by three doctors in the field. It's very balanced on both sides of the argument, and just gives the facts as they are. It talks about everything from the medicine to the politics to the ethics of medicating people, especially children, with ADHD.

  1. Thanks for all the info. I am a parent of a child with high-functioning autism and ADHD. I want to avoid medicating him as long as possible, preferably forever, so I like to devour all sorts of literature on the treatment options available out there and their documented effects, benefits, drawbacks, etc. I may buy that book.
