Blog 8

I wasn't very enthusiastic about doing the workshop activity, to be quite honest, because I thought that I already had enough to do with my own papers without having to dela with other students' on top of it.  But after workshopping my first three papers, which were all very different, I completely see the point of it.

Because we spend so much time writing our papers, changing this, revising that, in the end we just don't see clearly anymore.

Looking at other people's work has allowed me to notice error patterns that made me think back to something I wrote and go "oops, that's just not right", like using "some say", and "people think" to introduce ideas.  I didn't pay attention to it until I commented three times on a paper "who?"

I also have a tendency toward wordiness, and some of what I read truly managed to say what needed to be said without any extra "fluff" (Natasha's paper), which made me want to revisit my style a little.

The problem is I get really carried away because I really want to help and I'm afraid I go overboard on the level of detail I delve into.  It's hard to figure out what's not enough workshopping and what's too much!
