Sixth Discussion Blog Post

The article I picked is named “The Future of Our Transportation System is Electric” by Andy Posner. In this article the author argues that electric powered vehicles is the future of our transportation. The author establishes social significance by telling of the dangers of using other alternatives to energy that could be not as efficient or damaging to our environment. Also transportation is a huge part of American life that can be made very difficult if we either had none or transportation was too expensive to use. The first point is that using an electric motor is much more efficient that using the old internal combustion engine. The author supports this by sying, “electric motors are inherently more efficient (and simpler) than internal combustion engines” (para 1). The author is right based o all the studies conducted to compare the different modes of transportation. The second point is that The other alternatives are just not as safe to create. This is supported when the author says, “there are so many clean ways to produce electricity, and unlike land or oil wells, no one owns the sun” (para 4). The government needs to find some alternate forms of energy to reduce or get rid of our dependance on foreighn oil.
