There were a few assignments I found to be rather enlightening. The assignment that was hardest for me was the Position Paper, which I more or less did to myself by picking a topic I didn't know a whole lot about. But in the long run I think it was a good idea as it forced me to really think and to write an effective paper actually using what I learned from the books (the two books were also very good, both are extremely reader friendly, give a lot of useful examples, and really take you through the process of writing a well thought paper). I also thought that the Rhetorical Analysis paper was also extremely relevant as it is something that you more-or-less unknowingly do throughout your life and it really beings new meaning to the whole process, I have found myself to be more observant of everything recently. The workshops were also great, I got a lot of varied and informative responses from my peers and it really helped me focus my paper. I also think looking at other peoples papers with a scrutinizing eye is good for your own paper as it may make you realize something that you hadn't before.
To me the paper with which I have had the most fun is the Research paper, probably because I picked a topic which I knew a lot about and knew I would enjoy writing. Also I have to thank Prof. Bolaski for being the first teacher to actually make me use MLA format and actually learn it; although I sometimes loathe it, I know that with my major it is a very important skill to learn as I will use it in the future.
For me the general layout of this class was great, very laid back, and although I know this is contrary to everyone else's opinion, not very much work (of course I am only taking one class this summer, I work full time so anymore would have been crazy, as I have noticed from a few of my colleagues here). All the assignments had a direct purpose which was utilized with the next paper and there didn't seem to be any wasted time or "busy" work.
