Shawn Hannity

Shawn Hannity has a radio show in the afternoons that I frequently listen to. Seems like all of his shows are very similiar, so there is not any specific show that I an writing about. Shawn Hannity is what you call a Conservative Republican. Every that he knows that is a Conservative Republican is right in thier views and is in his words, "A Great American". Regular Republicans are sometimes right but they miss the fundamental points of government. The Democrats are always wrong in everything that they believe no matter if logically it it better for the United States because it is different than the way the Republicans think and most inportantly the way the Conservatives think. The Independants might as well be Democrats because they vote with the Democrats most of the time. As I listen to his show, I hear nothing from him except fallacies because he wants to try his best to convince anyone listening that if you want to be in the right political party, you must be in the Conservative Replublican party, although being just a regular Republican is much better than being a Democrat. He mostly uses the fallacy of appeal to emotions and he does it well based on the responses of callers. To him anything the Democrats want to do either going to make u less safe or be the downfall of or economy and way of life. He especially is against the new President more than like ly because he is Democrat and constantly bashes him because he wants a Republican in thw White House next election. Some things that I could see President Obama doing that is similar or the same as former President Bush and Hannity would have praised President Bush for it, but it is bashed as a very bad thing since President Obama is doing it. Hannity effectively uses the emotion of fear anyway that he can by sometimes telling the truth, but not the whole truth. Opposing viewpoints is good to see the other side of the argument, but fallacies in the hands of the wrong person can have you believing something that is untrue if you don't know how to identify when a fallacy is being used.

  1. My father listens to Shawn Hannity and acts very much the same way himself. I've noticed that no matter what the topic of conversation is, there is never an intellectual debate. The person (Hannity, my father, and others) speaking is not interested in a debate, but rather in bludgeoning the opposition with feel-good arguments that really say nothing. Great observations.
